Confidence and Courage

Hello Loves,

This week we’ve been talking all about building and sustaining confidence and courage.

I won’t sugar coat this, the best way to build that confidence is to take that action and do it scared!

Because I you can’t let fear keep you from achieving your wild and crazy dreams or your day to day tasks. Because the quickest way to acquire self confidence is doing what you’re afraid of. If I waited for courage to show up, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.  You build that confidence and courage by just jumping in. If you’re too scared you’ll fall, just think about how you’ll feel if you fly. What you’ll gain is a whole lotta feedback, lessons learned and the feeling of overcoming your fear.

Living the BEST version of you and living in your GREATNESS will require confidence and courage.  Afterall, going after your dreams, goals, passions and accomplishing what’s on your vision board will probably involve some risks and leaps of faiths.

But that’s ok, because you are stronger than you give yourself credit for.  Your biggest ally in gaining courage and confidence in all that you wish to achieve is your unwavering belief in yourself.  You have to believe. There will be times that you have to believe it before you see it.

My top tip for building and sustaining confidence and courage, is to use affirmations.  If a situation is really challenging my belief in myself, I will often say, “I am meant to grow from this.  This struggle is part of my growth. I will overcome and be even more amazing.” Often times, if I’m resisting courage, it’s because I may be worried about judgement from others.  In these times, I remind myself that it is absolutely none of my business what others think of me because frankly, that’s not in my control.

Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body.  This is a topic close to heart because like many others, I lacked confidence.  I have struggled with knowing my value and feeling my worth in all of the roles I’ve held - mom, wife, teacher, fitness instructor, and mindset and wellness educator.  I struggled with worrying of others’ opinions of me. All of these ideas running around in my head were stressing me out and really keeping me from feeling joy and happiness.  I finally decided it was time to stop believing those silly stories I was making up in my head and to acknowledge my truth. I had to do some serious damage control and reprogram my thinking, like stat.

Frankly, I used to think affirmations were hokey and belonged in SNL skits (think Stuart Smalley).  But I’ve come to realize, it’s that inner work of positive self talk that is the strength I draw from to build that confidence and courage.  Now, I am more intentional when I use affirmations and I’ll often pair them with aromatherapy to enhance the thoughts I am meditating on.

This shift and alignment has given me the strength to be more confident in my own skin and ultimately leaves me feeling like I am living my best life.  Thriving and happiness feels good!

Being vulnerable is NOT comfortable.

But I’m always telling myself to get comfortable with being uncomfortable (no affirmation pun intended).  In the end, the pay-off outweighs the work you put in. Ultimately, that mental strength will leave you unstoppable, limitless, and free to live a vibrant and fulfilled life.  Share your thoughts on getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.

We make big gains, by taking the steps.  Little by little we become a more confident and courageous in our own skin when we are willing to do the inner work.  We must believe in our abilities and lovingly tell ourselves so.

As you continue to align your inner strength with your affirmations, you will feel more confident and courageous to live your BEST life.

Here are a few questions to have you journal on today:

  1. What are you willing to do scared?

  2. What are (will be) your confidence affirmations?

  3. What steps will you take this week in becoming more confident and courageous in living your BEST life?
